Haliburton is a small village in Ontario, Canada, founded in 1864 and situated picturesquely on Head Lake, about two hours north of Toronto. With a year-round population of just over 1,100, it is the main community in Haliburton County — also known as the Haliburton Highlands — a region of more than 600 lakes and thousands of hectares of Canadian Shield wilderness. It’s a popular four-season destination known for outdoor activities like hiking, snowmobiling, and fishing, as well as a thriving arts scene with galleries, craft shops, and events like the Haliburton International Film Festival and the annual Highland Games.
