Category Muscat

Muscat, the capital of Oman, is scenically nestled between volcanic mountains and the Gulf of Oman, earning its name from the Arabic word for “safe anchorage” — a fitting description of its natural harbour. Unlike its flashier Gulf neighbours, the city has maintained its low-rise, old-world charm, with highlights including two 16th-century Portuguese forts, the grand Sultan Qaboos Mosque, and the vibrant Mutrah Souq. Muscat is also home to the only Royal Opera House on the Arabian Peninsula and is consistently ranked among the cleanest and safest cities in the world.

Mutrah Hotel

The oldest hotel in the Sultanate of Oman, Mutrah Hotel has been welcoming guests since 1970. Now operating under the management of Abdulrahman and Sons, it sits in the Mutrah district of Muscat — one of the city's most historically rich and walkable neighbourhoods.
