Hotel Americas

Hotel Américas, Fortaleza: A Colonial-Era Hotel Steps from Iracema Beach

Hotel Américas is a 26-room, three-star property in the Iracema neighbourhood of Fortaleza, 200 metres from the beach and within easy walking distance of the Centro Cultural Dragão do Mar, the Mercado Central, and the restaurant and bar strip along Avenida Monsenhor Tabosa.

It is a colonial-style building with wooden floors, a rooftop pool, and staff who are consistently the best thing about staying here. At the price, it is one of the strongest options in this part of the city.

Location

Iracema is Fortaleza’s most central beachside neighbourhood, and the hotel’s position is excellent. The beach is at the end of the street, seafood and pizza restaurants are directly opposite, and Monsenhor Tabosa — the main shopping strip — is an easy walk.

The Centro Cultural Dragão do Mar is 1 km away, the Mercado Central 1.5 km, and the city centre 2 km. Pinto Martins Airport is 12 km, around 20 minutes by car. Free rotating parking is available — note there is no valet and spaces are not guaranteed.

Rooms

The hotel offers single, double, triple, quadruple, and family sextuple rooms, all with air conditioning, flat-screen Smart TV, minibar, safe deposit box, and private bathroom with shower. Rooms are spacious by Fortaleza budget hotel standards, with wooden floors and comfortable beds.

The building is older and shows its age in places, but rooms are well-maintained, cleaned daily, and are fresh and well-presented. Hot water has been unreliable in some rooms.

The family room configuration — a double plus two bunk beds — works well for groups traveling with children.

Food and Drink

Breakfast is included and served in the hotel’s restaurant, which opens exclusively for the morning meal. The spread covers sweet and savoury options — tapioca, cakes, and other Northeastern Brazilian staples are highlights. The breakfast room fills up quickly during peak periods, so arriving early is worthwhile. Angela and Paula, who run the kitchen, are worth mentioning by name — their care and hospitality set the tone.

The street directly outside the hotel has several restaurants, and the surrounding neighbourhood offers açaí spots, coconut stands, pharmacies, and convenience stores within a short walk.

Facilities and Service

The rooftop pool is large, well-maintained, and — outside peak season — often quiet. The 24-hour front desk, free Wi-Fi, and free rotating parking cover the essentials. The hotel is pet-friendly and has a resident cat with her own outdoor setup, cared for by the owners — a detail that says something about the place.

Service is the hotel’s defining quality. Staff across every department — reception, housekeeping, kitchen — are warm, attentive. For a budget property, the standard of care is well above what the room rate implies.
