Lina Hotel – A Harbour Perch in a Sardinian Fishing Village
Lina Hotel sits in the heart of Stintino, directly facing the Porto Vecchio on Sardinia’s northwestern tip. A family-run property since 1968, it’s a compact two-star with six rooms, a longtime local institution, and one of the few affordable beds in a village that fills fast in summer.
Location
The old harbour is the hotel’s front garden. That positioning gives immediate access to the pier for boat trips to Asinara Island and its national park — the area’s most significant excursion — and puts Stintino’s small collection of restaurants, bars, and the Tuna Fishery Museum within easy walking distance. Pelosa Beach, one of Sardinia’s most photographed stretches of sand, is 3.4 km away; a bus stop directly beneath the hotel connects guests to beaches and Fertilia airport (50 km). For a non-driving base in Stintino, the location is close to ideal.
The Rooms
Two configurations: a standard double or a double with balcony and sea view. Rooms feature air conditioning, private en-suite bathrooms with shower, bidet and hairdryer, and free Wi-Fi throughout. The harbour-view balcony rooms are the clear choice if available — guests consistently single them out. Décor leans into a nautical character that reads as charming rather than contrived. Overall quality is well-kept and clean, though this is a simple, unfussy property; expectations should match the two-star rating and the price point.
Facilities & Service
Italian breakfast is included each morning — coffee, bread, cold cuts, pastries, eggs — served inside or on the terrace. Ristorante Lina, an adjacent restaurant under separate but affiliated ownership, provides a reliable dinner option with traditional Sardinian dishes and fresh local seafood. The hotel also has a garden. Non-motorised water sports — snorkelling, windsurfing, kayaking — are accessible directly from the hotel’s harbour-front position.
Pros & Cons
✔ Exceptional harbour-front location — immediate access to the old port and boat excursions
✔ Balcony rooms with sea views at budget rates
✔ Breakfast included
✔ Warm, family-run hospitality
✔ Bus stop at the door for beaches and airport
✘ Only six rooms — books up quickly, especially in August
✘ Village festivals and summer noise can be significant; check for local events
✘ Public parking nearby but not private or reservable
✘ Very small property — limited facilities beyond the basics
Overall
Lina Hotel does the essentials quietly well: a harbour view, a decent breakfast, genuinely kind staff, and a location that puts Asinara day trips and Pelosa Beach within easy reach. It won’t suit guests expecting resort amenities or a quiet August night. But for a simple, affordable base in one of Sardinia’s most characterful villages, it’s a sound and characterful choice — and the balcony rooms overlooking the old port are lovely.
