Ninh Binh Central Hotel

Ninh Binh Central Hotel: A Station-Side Base for Exploring the Region

Ninh Binh Central Hotel sits directly opposite the train station in Ninh Binh, family-run and unpretentious, with a handful of renovated rooms, free private parking, and a position that makes it one of the more convenient starting points for exploring the surrounding area.

Location

The location is the hotel’s clearest selling point. Ninh Binh Train Station is visible from the front door — a 16-minute walk at most, though most guests cross the road and they’re there. The town centre is walkable, and the hotel sits in a calm neighbourhood with local restaurants directly on the same block.

The major regional attractions are further out, which is simply the nature of Ninh Binh: Tam Coc Cave is 7.5 miles away, Bai Dinh Temple 14 miles, and Tho Xuan Airport 59 miles.

None of these are walking distance, but the hotel mitigates this well — bikes, scooters, and cars are available for hire at reception, and the tour desk can arrange onward transport, bus bookings, and excursions. A paid shuttle and airport transfer are also on offer.

The Rooms

Rooms are air-conditioned, renovated, and on the compact side — typical for the price bracket and the region. Family rooms are available, and each comes with a private bathroom, flat-screen TV, work desk, mini-bar, and free WiFi.

Beds lean toward generous:  mattresses are thick and comfortable. Bathrooms are excellent, though the shower placement — freestanding in the centre of the bathroom rather than in a dedicated enclosure — is common in Vietnamese hotels and worth knowing about in advance.

Facilities & Service

The on-site restaurant serves Asian cuisine with vegan options, open for lunch and dinner. The Pho and Ca Phe Sua (Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk) come in for particular praise — the owner prepares both and they’re worth having.

Breakfast is included but basic: typically bread, butter, and tea.

The bar and shared lounge provide somewhere to sit in the evenings. The front desk runs 24 hours in principle, though in practice it’s a family operation and staffing at the desk varies through the day — get your questions in when you see someone.

The owners speak English to a good standard, which is genuinely useful in a town where that’s not always the case.

Bike and scooter rental is available on-site and reasonably priced. Laundry service is offered and tends to turn around faster than the quoted 24 hours.

Parking is free and private, on-site.

Overall

Ninh Binh Central Hotel works best for what most of its guests are actually doing: passing through, using the train, and heading out to Tam Coc or the temple complexes before moving on. For that purpose, it’s hard to beat — the station is right there, the owners will sort out whatever you need, and the price is fair for what you get.

If you’re spending one or two nights in Ninh Binh between stops, and you want someone at the desk who speaks English, knows the region, and will drive you to your bus if needed — this is a sensible and comfortable choice.
